Paid in Full

In December I will be traveling to see my mother and father in Mallorca.
They moved there after they had taken retirement, and they’re loving the way of life. Their house is paid off, thus they are free to simply relax and spend their retirement in the sunshine.
It is odd to see my father that relaxed: he had always been stressed before because of his work.
Perhaps there is a chance for me in the future!

A few years ago I began fishing, which is incredibly relaxing. A friend of mine had told me for years that there’s little better than standing by the riverside, holding on for a fish. I couldn’t really understand the attraction, to be honest, however eventually I thought I’d try it.
And I have to say that I love it.
I go nearly every weekend, and although we put nearly all of the catches back, I generally retain one to cook on the fire for dinner.

In the old days I would go on vacation with a big gang of friends every summer, and we would have a week of hedonistic chaos.
Those were brilliant times. We’d rent several villas in Corfu, and then every night one of the villas would host a party. Frequently by the conclusion of the trip there were people from across the local area coming to the parties, holiday-makers and natives, and on our final evening we would unfailingly have a massive cleaning effort, and everyone had to assist.
By the time we’d finished, you would never have suspected the madness which had ensued over the course of our holiday!

Now that I’m more mature, I like quiet vacations, away from the packed hotels and fellow holidaymakers.
Whenever I can, I try to go somewhere with great scenery, such that I can take photographs.
I have enjoyed many lovely vacations in the mountains of Continental Europe, and I really like the tranquillity of being by myself, in the midst of the landscape, simply soaking up the environment. It is so different to the stressful speed of life back home, where I am always rushing from one appointment to another.

Fishing and Raving

Last year I began fishing, which is incredibly peaceful. A friend of mine had told me for a long time that there is little nicer than being by the riverside, holding on for a bite. I could not see the appeal, to be honest, however eventually I thought I’d try it. And I can safely say that I really like it. I fish nearly every weekend, and although we put most of the fish back, I always keep one to cook on the barbeque for supper.

In the old days I would head off on vacation with a big gang of friends each year, and we’d have a week of Bacchanalian madness. Those were tremendous days. We would rent a couple of villas in Corfu, and every evening one of the villas used to host a rave. Usually by the finish of our holiday there were folk from across the local area attending the parties, holiday-makers and natives, and on the final evening we’d unfailingly have a big clean-up, and everyone was obliged to get involved. By the time we were done, you would never have suspected the chaos that had occured during our trip!

This December I’ll be flying out to see my mum and dad in Gran Canaria.
They relocated there when they had stopped working, and they’re really enjoying the lifestyle.
The mortgage has been paid off, so they can just chill out and enjoy their retirement in the sun. It’s weird to see my dad so chilled out: he was always stressed before due to his job. Possibly there’s a chance for me in the future!

Now that I’m older, I enjoy quiet holidays, far from the crowded hotels and fellow holidaymakers. Whenever I am able to, I try to go someplace with pleasant scenery, so that I can take photographs. I have enjoyed a number of marvellous holidays in the foothills of Continental Europe, and I really like the tranquility of staying by myself, in the middle of the countryside, just soaking up the environment. It is so different to the stressful speed of life back home, where I am constantly dashing from one place to the next.

A Peace of the Action

In 2008 I took up fishing, which I find amazingly peaceful. A friend of mine had been telling me for a long time that there is little better than being by a river, holding on for a bite. I couldn’t really see the appeal, to be honest, however in the end I gave it a go.
And I must say that I really like it. We fish nearly every weekend, and although I throw nearly all of the catches into the river again, I generally keep one to cook on the fire for tea.

In my more youthful days I would go on holiday with a huge bunch of friends every August, and we would enjoy a fortnight of hedonistic madness.
They were brilliant times.
We’d rent a couple of villas in Corfu, and then every night one of the villas used to be the venue for a party.
Frequently come the conclusion of the vacation there were people from throughout the region turning up at our raves, holiday-makers and local people, and on our final evening we’d always have a major cleaning effort, and everyone had to get involved. When we’d finished, you would never have believed the chaos which had occured in the course of our holiday!

In December I’ll be flying out to visit my parents in Tenerife.
They moved there when they’d taken retirement, and they are loving the change of pace. The house was bought outright, so they are able to just chill out and enjoy their retirement in the sunshine. It’s weird to see my dad that chilled out: he was always stressed before due to his job.
Perhaps there’s a chance for me too!

Now that I’m older, I like quiet vacations, far from the crowded hotels and fellow tourists. If I am able to, I like to head somewhere with great scenery, so that I can paint.
I have enjoyed a number of terrific vacations in the hills of southern Europe, and I love the tranquility of staying on my own, in the middle of nowhere, simply soaking up the environment.
It is so different to the chaotic pace of living in the UK, where I’m always dashing from one place to the next.

One Foot in the Rave

In my twenties I’d head off on holiday with a huge group of pals each summer, and we would enjoy a fortnight of party insanity. Those were great times.
We’d hire several villas in Corfu, and every night one of the villas used to host a rave.
Usually by the end of the vacation there were people from throughout the town turning up at the parties, holidaymakers and locals, and on our last evening we would always have a major cleaning effort, and everybody had to assist. When we had finished, you would never have believed the carnage which had occurred over the course of our vacation!

Now that I am more mature, I enjoy quiet holidays, away from the packed hotels and other holiday-makers. Whenever I can, I try to go somewhere with pleasant scenery, so that I can draw.

In January I will be flying out to visit my mother and father in Mallorca.
They moved to the island after they’d stopped working, and they’re really enjoying the change of pace. The house was bought outright, thus they are free to just relax and enjoy their old age in the sun.
It is weird to see my old man that calm: he had always been tense and uptight previously due to his job.
Maybe there is a chance for me too!

Great Days

In the old days I’d go on holiday with a huge bunch of mates every July, and we would have a fortnight of party chaos.
They were wonderful days. We would hire two or three villas in Corfu, and then every night one of the villas would host a party.
Usually by the end of our vacation there were folk from everywhere in the local area attending our parties, tourists and locals, and on the final evening we would unfailingly organize a huge cleaning effort, and everybody was obliged to lend a hand. Once we had finished, you would never have believed the chaos that had occurred in the course of the vacation!

Last spring I took up angling, which I find amazingly peaceful.
A mate had been telling me for ages that there’s little nicer than being on a riverbank, holding on for a fish. I could not really see the attraction, to tell the truth, however ultimately I I tried it. And I have to say that I love it.
We go most weekends, and though I put almost all of the catches into the river again, I normally keep one to grill on the fire for tea.

Now that I am older, I like quiet vacations, far from the packed tourism centres and other holidaymakers. Whenever I can, I try to go somewhere with beautiful landscape, such that I can paint. Painting by Numbers

Now that I am older, I like tranquil holidays, far from the crowded tourism centres and fellow holiday-makers. If I can, I try to go somewhere with great landscape, such that I can paint. I have enjoyed a number of superb holidays in the foothills of Continental Europe, and I really like the tranquility of being by myself, in the middle of the countryside, just immersing myself in the ambience. It’s so unlike the stressful pace of living back home, where I’m always dashing from one thing to another.

In November I will be travelling to drop in on my mother and father in Gran Canaria.
They relocated there when they’d stopped working, and they are loving the way of life. The house was bought outright, thus they are free to simply unwind and enjoy their retirement in the sunshine.
It’s strange to see my old man that calm: he had always been tense and uptight previously due to his work. Possibly there is hope for me in the future!

Relaxing Pastimes

In 2008 I took up coarse-fishing, which is extremely relaxing. A friend of mine had been telling me for ages that there’s nothing nicer than being on a riverbank, holding on for a bite. I could not understand the appeal, to be honest, however in the end I I tried it. And I must say that I really like it. We go most weekends, and although we throw almost all of the catches back, I normally keep one to grill on the barbeque for tea.

In December I will be travelling to see my parents in Menorca. They moved to the island when they’d taken retirement, and they are really enjoying the lifestyle. Their house is paid off, so they are able to simply relax and enjoy their golden years in the sunny weather.
It’s funny to see my father that relaxed: he had always been tense and uptight previously due to his job. Possibly there’s hope for me in the future!

Given that I am more mature, I like peaceful holidays, away from the packed hotels and fellow holiday-makers. Whenever I can, I try to go somewhere with great landscape, so that I can take photographs. I have enjoyed a number of marvellous holidays in the hills of Continental Europe, and I really like the tranquillity of being on my own, in the midst of nowhere, just absorbing the environment. It is so unlike the hectic tempo of living in Britain, where I am constantly hurrying from one appointment to the next.

In my more youthful days I’d go on holiday with a huge gang of pals every year, and we would enjoy a week of party madness.

Better Fed Than Read

I’m not your typical British holidaymaker, as I don’t lounge in the sun all day turning crimson. I am always astonished whenever I see pale folk out in the sun for hours, I do not know why they think it’s a good idea.
In Menorca it is fairly hot in the shade, plus I don’t enjoy slathering myself in factor 40, and as such I am simply sensible and as a result I normally go home with a nice tan, instead of bright crimson.

I dislike package holiday deals, in which you are effectively stuck in a resort for a week or two with just holidaymakers to talk to. That’s not my way of travelling. And it is harmful for the local area, due to the fact that the cash which tourists bring in does not go to the cafes or shops in the town, instead it stays in the hotel. When I’m on vacation I like to investigate the area, to meet the natives and eat at restaurants they frequent.
That’s the reason that I rent a villa when I’m abroad, where I have a kitchen to cook meals with locally-sourced ingredients. The Menorca villa I stayed in in 2011 was huge, there was so much room inside that I might as well have taken my entire family along and they’d have squeezed in comfortably.

When I am on holiday I usually hire a car for the duration, in order that I can drive round wheresoever I want to go. I’ve got to concede that I do not enjoy going up the narrow roads of Mediterranean towns, where you are regularly confronted with some nutcase going at 70mph on a scooter, but nonetheless it is a superb way to explore the countryside and see the terrain.

I love the azure skies which my holidays almost always give me, and once I get back to The British Isles the grey, murky weather makes me depressed. If I could, I would move somewhere sunnier, but there aren’t any jobs to be found in the south of Europe at present, and I get a half-decent salary so I can’t moan.
If nothing else, I make sufficient money to go to Menorca for my holidays!

Factor 40

I am not your classic English holidaymaker, as I don’t sit in the sun-shine day after day turning crimson. I am continually astonished whenever I spot pale folk out in the sunshine for ages, I don’t understand why they reckon it is a smart thing to do. In Menorca it’s fairly warm in the shade, and I do not like covering myself in factor 40, therefore I’m just sensible and as a consequence I typically end the holiday nicely tanned, instead of bright crimson.

When I am on holiday I generally rent an automobile, so that I can drive round wherever I fancy going.
I have to admit that I don’t enjoy going up the little streets in Continental villages, in which you are regularly confronted by a lunatic doing 80mph on a scooter, but nevertheless it’s a good means by which to explore the country and look at the terrain.

I really do not like package holiday deals, in which you are basically stuck in a resort for a week or two with just tourists to talk to. That isn’t my idea of travelling. In addition it’s bad for the local economy, since the money that holiday-makers bring in doesn’t go to the pubs or restaurants in the village, instead it remains in the hotel.
Whenever I’m on holiday I prefer to investigate the region, to encounter locals and dine in places they eat in. That is why I rent a villa when I’m abroad, where I’ve got somewhere to prepare meals utilizing locally-sourced produce.
The Menorca villa I hired last spring was vast, there was so much space inside that I could have brought all my relatives along and they’d have fitted in easily.

I adore the azure skies that my holidays almost unfailingly provide, and once I return to The United Kingdom the gloomy, murky conditions make me unhappy.
If I could, I would move someplace more sunny, however there are no jobs to be found in the south of Europe nowadays, and I earn a reasonable salary therefore I can’t complain. If nothing else, I make sufficient money to go to Menorca a few times each year!

Foreign Drivers

If I’m abroad I usually hire an automobile for the duration, so that I can drive around wherever I want to go. I’ve got to concede that I do not enjoy driving on the tiny roads of Mediterranean towns, where you are regularly confronted by a lunatic going at 80mph on a scooter, however nonetheless it is a terrific means by which to check out the country and have a look at the landscape.

I am hardly your archetypal British tourist, because I do not lounge in the sun-shine from dawn til dusk and turn scarlet. I’m invariably amazed whenever I see pale-skinned people out in the sun for ages, I don’t understand why they reckon it is a smart thing to do. In Menorca it is pretty warm in the shade, plus I don’t like covering my body in suncream, so I am just cautious and consequently I typically end the holiday with a nice tan, rather than glowing red.

I do not like all-inclusive holiday deals, where you are basically stuck in a resort for a fortnight with just holidaymakers to talk to. That is not my idea of traveling. Also it is bad for the place you’re staying, as the cash that tourists bring in doesn’t go to the pubs or shops in the neighbourhood, but stays in the resort. When I am abroad I like to investigate the region, to speak to locals and eat at establishments they frequent. That’s the reason that I rent a villa whenever I am on vacation, where I’ve got someplace to cook meals using local ingredients. The Menorca villa I hired in 2011 was massive, there was such a lot of space inside that I could have taken my entire family with me and they would have fitted in comfortably.

I really like the blue skies which my vacations almost always provide, and when I return to The United Kingdom the gloomy, cloudy conditions make me unhappy. If I had the chance, I would move someplace more sunny, however there are no employment opportunities to be had in southern Europe at the moment, and I get a reasonable salary therefore I cannot moan. At the very least, I earn enough cash to travel to Menorca several times a year!
